National and University Basketball Camps in Oklahoma

There are several national organizations that host basketball camps throughout the country. These camps often represent the highest level of instruction available in the area and are very popular with serious high school athletes who want to continue to play ball in college. They aren’t the only high-quality option, though, for serious athletes. University camps are another great choice for players who want to go on to college ball, not only for the level of instruction, but also because they allow you to get a taste of the college experience.

 Two High Level Basketball Camps in Oklahoma

The head coach of the women’s basketball team at the University of Oklahoma hosts the Sooner Sessions basketball camps at the university every summer. There are several different camps to attend every year. The Comprehensive camp focuses on the Sooner defense and also includes shooting drills. The “Total Offensive Player,” or T.O.P., camp focuses on offense, including how to combat particular defenses, fundamental offensive skills, and position play. The program also offers team camps, where teams from several states gather each year to compete against each other in a championship tournament, and individual day camps with separate sessions for beginners and experienced high school players.

Point Guard College is not just for point guards. This camp uses a unique curriculum, based on core classes, to teach athletes from nine to twenty three how to be better basketball players. There are three core classes that can be taken in any order, that make up the curriculum. These are the Think the Game, Essentials, and Advanced Concepts camps open to high school and college players only. These camps are meant to prepare athletes for college level play. There is also a camp intended for younger players called the Prep School, to help them prepare for high school level play.
