National High School Basketball Camp
There are a number of national basketball camps for male and female high school athletes. These organizations host camps all over the country and are known for their instruction, reputation, and recruiting opportunities. Nike’s US Sports Camps, Hoop Mountain, Five Star Basketball Camps, and Point Guard College are four of the biggest.
National High School Basketball Camp Options
Nike sponsors general skills and position camps for boys and girls. These camps are for day and overnight campers and are hosted by schools. Athletes who attend these camps can choose a general skills camp that offers a well-rounded curriculum that emphasizes all aspects of game play. There are also shooting camps and position camps for point guards and post players. Tuition includes meals for both day and overnight campers.
Hoop Mountain focuses on scholastic basketball players who want to improve their game. They offer camps around the country in the spring and summer. In addition to high-level instruction and competition, these basketball camps have a focus on recruiting, with college and prep school scouts in attendance. In New England, Hoop Mountain attendees also have access to personal instruction in groups of one to four players.
Five Star Basketball Camps pride themselves on their success rate, with the highest number of Division One placements for a national camp. Recently revised, the camp now offers opportunities for players of all ages and skill levels, with camps for kids nine to eighteen, learning and competing in groups organized by skill level and age.
Point Guard College has programs for younger players, but their focus is on high school and college level players. The curriculum at Point Guard College is based on four core sessions, Prep School, The Essentials, Think the Game, and College Session. These courses are designed to build on one another and campers benefit from taking more than one class in their careers.
