Research Basketball Camps Before Registering

When looking for a basketball camp, make sure to do your research. There are two things you really need to look into. The first is whether the camp is on the up-and-up. The second is whether the camp offers what it is you’re looking for. This doesn’t mean generally. All basketball camps teach basketball to some extent. This means that you need to know what it is you want, specifically, from a basketball camp and then do your research to find the camp that offers those things.

This includes things like recruitment. If you are looking for a recruitment opportunity this summer, then you need to make sure that the camps you are looking at are going to have recruiting coaches and scouts present. Attending a camp at a school that you want to attend is a great idea for many reasons, but don’t assume that the coaches will be watching you as recruiters. Make sure that the camp specifies recruiting in its informational material.

If you are looking for a chance to work on your specific position, look for a camp designed for position players. You’ll find camps for point guards, forwards, shooting forwards, high and low post players, and others. Sometimes, the camps are broken down differently, such as perimeter players and post players, while others call specific positions, like center, point guard, or forward. Keep in mind that these are roughly the same thing, just called by different names.

Finally, you’ll want to do some outside research to see whether the camp has a good reputation. Look for negative reviews or complaints from players or parents on the Internet. Some basic guidelines to keep in mind are number of years in business, number of successful alumni, and quality of the coaching staff.
