What to Do to Prepare for Summer Basketball Camps
If you’ve decided to attend a basketball camp this summer, here are some things you should think about to prepare for your camp experience. Some of these things you can do right before you leave. Others will require more time.
You’ll want to make sure you’re physically ready for camp this summer. This means that you are in good physical shape. If you haven’t played basketball since the season ended, you will probably want to get back out on the court in preparation for camp. You’ll also probably want to do some gym workouts, too. Camp is going to be an intense physical experience, and if you aren’t ready for it, you won’t get the most out of camp.
Being mentally prepared is also important for an experience like this. Try to put any distracting or upsetting things out of your mind while you are at camp. You’re going to have to be on your game, on and off the field, especially if you are going to a camp where you will be seen by recruiters. Recruiters will be watching your moves on and off the court, and a good team player with a good attitude is a valuable asset for any team.
Pack your bags. You’ll want to make sure you’ve got everything you’re going to need, and stressing out about packing the night before you need to leave can put you in the wrong mental space for camp. Make sure you’ve looked over the list of things the camp wants you to bring. For most camps, this will include bedding, towels, toiletries, clothes, and a ball (preferably new and marked with your name). Some camps will have a list of things you shouldn’t bring. Make sure to pay attention to that, too. You don’t want to leave a bad impression on coaches for failing to follow the rules.
