Wide Receiver Academy was founded in 2010 and offers the following curriculum: Receiver Camps, Receiver Coaching, Receiver Drills, Coaching Receivers, and Building Men. Wide Receiver Academy’s aim is to learn, develop, and lead. WRA has put together a skilled group of professional coaches who strive to make average receivers Great and great receivers Elite. Our vision is to teach, train, and build young men and our motto is confidence, character, commitment, and consistency. WRA’s credo is: self-correct, not self-destruct.
The Wide Receiver Academy difference is a Self-Correct responsiveness that stem from an understanding of instant feedback. Self-Correct awareness and improvement is immediate and with informed repetition, the difference is ingrained.

We provide Receiver coaches, athletes and parents the highest level of instruction and information, personalized service and knowledge they need to advance their training programs.
Coach DJ McCarthy heads up the NFA’s Wide Receiver Academy. Coach McCarthy has won national titles as both a coach and a player in college. Coach McCarthy graduated from the University of Washington in 1994, where he played receiver for the Huskies for three seasons. He was a member of the 1991 National Championship team and was part of two Rose Bowl teams. McCarthy ranked second among wide receivers in touchdown receptions his senior season.
Following Washington, McCarthy played parts of four seasons in the Arena Football League. He began his coaching career at his high school alma mater, Boca Raton High School, where he spent two years (1994-95). He then coached at Ft. Lauderdale High School before moving into the college ranks at West Hills Community College in Coalinga, Calif., where he coached the secondary and special teams. Coach McCarthy spent two years as a defensive coaches’ assistant in the NFL with the Oakland Raiders (1998-99). Coach McCarthy has also coached receivers and special teams at the following universities: Nevada, UCLA, Central Florida, and LSU. He has coached the following receivers: Nate Burleson, Maurice Mann, Mike Sims-Walker, Matt Willis, Early Doucet, Demetrius Byrd, Brandon Marshall, Brandon Lafell, Trindon Holiday, and Chad Jones.

The wide receiver training academy such as Football Camp in Illinois hold off season and pre season wide receiver camps from February through May of each year. The Wide Receiver Academy camp progression is built to maximize preparation time between seasons. Your son’s training options are geared toward building up to game-readiness appropriate for the time of year a given camp is scheduled. The WRA football camps offer distinct tracks, appropriate to age and ability level. From WRA Youth players (age 9-12) up through high school and college players in our invitation-only ProspecTRAK camps.
