No Contact vs. Full Contact Football Camps in Delaware

There are general skills and position specific football camps that are full contact and no contact. The type of camp to choose depends on what you are looking for in a camp and your general level of experience and comfort with the sport.

General skills camps teach players the underlying fundamentals of the game, including workouts and drills that improve explosiveness, agility, strength, and speed. These types of camps are a good choice for new and experienced players alike, as all players benefit from having a firm grasp of fundamentals. You’ll find both no contact and full contact general skills camps. Offense-Defense, for example is a full contact camp for all ages, where many local or university camps won’t be.

At a position camp, training focuses on workouts and techniques that are specific to your position. This includes physical and mental skills. For example, QBs focus on passing, receiving the snap, and reading the field. QB camps also generally include leadership training. Some position camps are designed for two positions. For example, you’ll find that QBs and receivers are often grouped together, for obvious reasons, just as kickers and long snappers are often found together in camp settings. A lot of position specific camps are no contact camps, but not all of them.

Does it matter if the football camp is full contact or no contact? Well, yes and no. Neither option is inherently better or worse than the other. Full contact camp is good because it better simulates what you’ll be experiencing in a real game. No contact camps are good because you don’t take the punishing over and over again in a full day of practice and many camps don’t need contact to teach you what they want you to know. If you’re worried about safety, full contact camps are well supervised and carefully controlled, so should not be any more dangerous than regular season play.
