Get the Attention You Need at Football Kicking Camps

Being a kicker is a tough job. You only get a chance to do what you do a few times per game. When you do well, no one seems to care. When you screw up, everyone notices. There will be times when all attention is on you and your performance can chance the course of the game.

If that sounds like a lot of pressure, it can be. That’s why, if you want to be a kicker at the college or even pro level, you’re going to want to spend as much time as possible practicing and, in the normal course of football practice, you probably won’t get a lot of opportunities. This is where private instruction and camps come in. Attending a one or two day or weeklong camp can give you the type of focused attention and practice you’re going to need. The whole camp will be devoted to working on kicking, and drills and workouts that suit kickers.

A football kicking camp will focus on proper technique for placekicking and punting. This should include things like drills and workouts to help improve your skills outside of the camp setting, as well as the mental aspects of being a kicker. You should expect on the field training as well as classroom instruction.

Some camps will offer video feedback as part of their instruction. This is a good way for you to see your form and for your coaches to break down what you are doing right or wrong, moment by moment. This can be a big help in breakinb any bad habits you may have developed.

You’ve probably noticed that football kicking camps are often seen in conjunction with long snapping camps. This makes sense, as the long snapper and the kicker work together on punts and field goals. If you are interested in becoming a long snapper and are having trouble finding camp opportunities, look for kicking camps to see if they offer long snapping camps, as well.
