Football Training Camps for Elite Athletes

Some football training camps are not open to all players. Prestigious national events, like the Nike Football Training Camp, require that student athletes be recommended by their coaches. Students who can’t get a recommendation can send a tape in the hopes of getting an invite. These types of camps are well-regarded for their successes, but won’t be available to all players who could get recruited. If you can’t get into a football training camp like this, there are still plenty of options available to you where you can hone your skills and be seen by recruiters.

National and University Football Training Camps

College camps, hosted by universities and colleges at all levels, are often open to interested players who register on time. These camps will have options for younger kids, as well as serious student athletes, though the two groups will never work together. A college camp will give you a chance to work on your skills, while also giving you the chance to evaluate the school to see if it’s the kind of place you’d like to attend. A good performance at a college camp can lead to recruiting opportunities, even if the camp isn’t a recruiting camp specifically.

National private camps are also available to many players, including OD camps, Sports International, and Contact Football Camp. These camps are run by national organizations and can be found around the country. The camps take place on college campuses, but aren’t affiliated with that school’s team. These camps are known for their level of instruction and can be a good choice for serious athletes.

Both of these types of camps often will offer both a general skills camp and focused camps for position players. You’re likely to find college camps for quarterbacks, for example, or national camps for linemen. Whether you should attend a general skills camp or a focused camp depends on your level of experience and what it is you are looking to achieve in your camp experience.
