Youth Football Camps for Young Players

There are football camps for younger players (usually grade six and above) and camps for serious high school athletes. If your young child is serious about becoming a football player in high school, and later, college, then starting them out in a youth football camp can help build the foundation for later success.

Camps for younger players will focus on general skills and learning how to play the game. Kids will learn how to play and pick up some good techniques that will serve them well as they progress in their careers. Learning the right stance or movement early can spare them having to unlearn bad habits later on. These are usually no-contact camps, unlike the camps designed for older players. Younger players may also benefit from day camps, where they will be able to return home after practice, especially if they aren’t old enough for a week away from mom and dad.

Many camps will have both youth and high school camps, often at the same time in the same place. These two groups will not be playing together, however. Camps are broken down in groups that better match the age and skill level of the participants, so smaller young children will not have to play and compete with larger, older children.

Serious high school athletes will find overnight camps at universities, whether they are general or focused, to be readily available, as well. Camps for elite athletes will often include recruitment opportunities or advice that will help them move into college football.
