Athletic Training and Sports Camps in Minnesota

In Minnesota, you’ll find sports camps for athletes who play lacrosse, soccer, baseball, and wrestling, among others, as well as general athletic camps that don’t have a sport-specific focus. These camps are run by universities, national organizations, and local players or coaches and can be either general skills camps or position-specific.

General skills camps teach the fundamentals of the sport, including both offensive and defensive techniques. In a general skills camp for baseball, for example, you’ll practice fielding and batting, no matter what position you normally play. General skills camps can be of the massive, national organization type, like those run by Nike or Offense-Defense, or smaller, local camps that are shorter in duration and much more general in their focus.

Position-specific camps work on only the position that you play, like goaltender, pitcher, or quarterback. You’ll find lots of camps for high-profile positions like these, and a few that focus on less-popular positions like kicker or long snapper. If you are serious about being a college-level pitcher, for example, then attending a camp for that specifically can give you the kind of focused instruction you need to improve.

Athletic training camps are even more general than general skills camps. They focus on teaching you exercises and drills that improve your fundamental athletic abilities in a non-sport-specific context. This includes drills that can make you faster, stronger, or more agile. Most trainers agree that all players can improve these fundamental attributes with the proper training, so if you want to be an all-around better athlete, this is a good choice for you.
