National Football Quarterback Academy Staff
The Quarterback Academy has assembled one of the best quarterback coaching staffs in the country. The Quarterback Academy has a staff of more than 40 experienced coaches. Here are the biographies of a few of the great QBA coaches:
Darrin Slack – Founder and President of the QBA
In 1983, Darin Slack a Florida 6A All-State high school quarterback received offers from many large Division 1-A schools. He turned them all down to attend the University of Central Florida where he capitalized on the opportunity for early playing time and the experience of playing in his hometown.
In 1987, as a senior the University of Central Florida, he set 34 school and national passing records. Voted Football News and Kodak All-American in his senior season, Darin led the UCF Knights to their best season in the school’s history: the semi-finals of the Division 2 National Championship.
Since 1988, Coach Slack has trained over 18,000 quarterbacks through The Quarterback Academy and other clinics. He has become one of the best teachers of quarterback fundamentals in the nation. During his tenure as a coach, he has pioneered training techniques that are simple, yet extremely effective at producing successful results for any quarterback, at any age and level.
Darin is presently full time with the Academy and travels year round seeking to make a difference in the lives and futures of young men throughout the country.
JC Boice – Director of Operations
Coach Boice has been involved with NFA for nearly a decade as one of their premier throwing mechanics coaches’ where he specializes in bio-mechanical analysis. JC was born into a football family and has played and now coached the quarterback position for the last 16 years. JC resides in Kirkland, Washington and has been the Varsity QB Coach and Passing Game Coordinator for Inglemoor High School in the storied Kingco Division. JC also stepped back from coaching Varsity level football to coach his son at North Shore Junior High. Implementing a hurry up, no huddle offense powered by QBA’s R4 System, North Shore went from dead last in the previous year to winning the district championships averaging 46 points a game that season.
For QBA JC is a Senior Level, C4 Certified very high energy coach that has a passion for developing quarterbacks. Aside from duties as a QBA camp coach, JC is on the national management team and has been a driving force in QBA’s national growth and the launching of NFA and expanding to all positions.
Will Hewlett – Director of Player Development
Coach Hewlett is the first Australian to play NCAA football. His playing career extended to the pro ranks, with a stint in the Arena 2 league. His college experience included University of Nevada (UNR) and University of Dubuque.
Coach Hewlett, who lives near San Francisco CA, leads the Player Development and is the Lead Coach for elite players at QBA camps. Coach Hewlett is also a regular speaker on the Glazier tour.
In the past 5 years, Coach Hewlett has coached over 40 division one prospects and current Quarterbacks. He has conducted NFL Draft prep and development as well as coaching Arena football Quarterbacks. Coach Hewlett has consulted NFL and UFL and NCAA coaches on passing mechanics and quarterback play.
He continues to work with Quarterbacks in the SEC, BIG TEN, ACC as a private Quarterback Coach.
