Oftentimes a middle school or high school can bring a whole team to a sports camp, to practice and play versus other teams. Sounds like just another practice session back home, right? When practicing with your team back home, athletes are in a familiar setting, and things can become a little routine. The benefit of a team sports camp is to take the athletes out of their comfortable, familiar settings and shake things up a bit. Instead of practicing and going home, you’ll be with your teammates during every meal and the allotted down time to rest and relax.
This is usually where deeper bonds are formed within a team. Many funny things happen at a sports camp. There will be inside jokes galore by the end of camp that can bring a much needed laugh later in the season. These can also help break down and barriers formed by previous cliques on the team.
Who knows, you might not even know some of your teammates as well as you thought! With many other teams involved, your team might adopt an us versus them, mentality, which can bring you and your fellow players much closer. It’s amazing how much more you can accomplish when you trust your teammates!
