An association governed by Swiss law, the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) was founded in 1904. Based out of Zurich, FIFA has 209 member associations located all over the globe. The “constant improvement of football” is the motto of the association, and is the goal that the organization has striven to achieve for over a century.
USMNT Drives Soccer Awareness
The United States Men’s National Soccer Team (USMNT) represents the country at FIFA. Operated by the US Soccer Federation, the USMNT has an illustrious history and playing record. With a current FIFA World Ranking of 14, the USMNT is all set to compete in the FIFA 2018 tournament.
The USMNT played their first World Cup match in the 1930 FIFA World Cup. The first 13 matches played in World Cup groups were against European or South American teams. In fact, the very first World Cup match that the USMNT played against a non-European or South American team was in 1998 World Cup against Iran. When it comes to group play at the World Cups, the USMNT has played maximum matches against the teams of Italy and England, against whom they have played 3 and 2 matches, respectively.
The maximum number of goals that team USA has scored against teams in Group Play at the World Cups is 3. This feat was achieved three times against Belgium in 1930, Paraguay in 1930 and Portugal in 2002. In the 1998 FIFA World Cup, player Jurgen Klinsmann scored the winning goal against Germany. USMNT won that match 2-0. Overall, the USMNT has scored a total of 32 goals in the FIFA World Cups.
Strong Team Dynamics Lead to Success
Over the years, the USMNT has played against at least one European team in group play at every World Cup. 7 World Cups saw them pitted against 2 European teams in Group Play. In the 1990 FIFA World Cup, the USMNT was in a group with three European Teams. In Group G this time around, the USMNT is grouped with the teams of Ghana, Portugal and Germany.
At the CONCACAF qualifying, the USMNT 2018 finished 1st with qualifying figures of 7-2-1; 15 GF, 8 GA. Klinsmann is the head coach for this year’s team of excellent players. The key players for USMNT in the 2018 FIFA World Cup are Tim Howard (Everton), DaMarcus Beasley (Puebla), Landon Donovan (LA Galaxy), Clint Dempsey (Seattle Sounders), Michael Bradley (Roma) and Jozy Altidore (Sunderland). These players have time and again inspired the budding soccer players in the country to perform better and play harder.
AYSO and Youth Soccer in America
The American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) has seen players as young as 4 years old sign up for their football camps. Established in Los Angeles in 1964, the AYSO started off with 9 teams. Over the years, the ranks of this non-profit United States soccer organization has grown by leaps and bounds.
Today, the American Youth Soccer Organization has over 50,000 teams and more than 500,000 players all over the country. They cater to players as young as 4 years old and as old as 19 years of age. AYSO believes in the mottos of “Everyone Plays” and “Balanced Teams”. The result is a platform that offers budding soccer players a chance to learn the ropes of the game so they can eventually move on to playing for their college or high school varsity team and the USMNT.
Summer Soccer Camps for Youth Athletes
Other than the AYSO camps, youth athletes have a long list of options when it comes to choosing summer soccer camps in their state. Third party or private camps are known to be intensive and performance driven. Some of the best soccer camps in the country are NIKE Soccer Camps, Eurotech Soccer Academy Camps, Manchester United Camps, No. 1 Soccer Camps and those run by FC Barcelona, AC Milan and Adidas. These camps offer options like day, extended day and overnight camps, along with position specific and all-skills camps, soccer summer camps in Florida and clinics.
College Summer Soccer Camps 2018 Continue to Grow

Players who are hoping to study in colleges offering soccer sports program have a lot to gain from attending college soccer camps.
