National Baseball Camps in Colorado
There are several national organizations that host baseball camps all over the country. National camps are popular choices because they are well-known by players, parents, and coaches. They offer quality instruction and, often, recruiting opportunities, as well. Nike baseball camps and DeMarini Top 96 are two options that regularly host events in Colorado.
DeMarini Top 96 camps, formerly just Top 96, have been hosting baseball camps for young athletes for over 20 years. These camps focus on recruiting opportunities for high school athletes. Camps consist of two days of baseball. Day one focuses on warm-ups, drills, and instruction. Day two involves baseball games for all players. College coaches evaluate players during day one (or day two for pitchers and catchers) and go over their evaluations with each player.
Nike baseball camp also focus on instruction and games, with players engaging in a week’s worth of drills, lessons, and scrimmages. Players are also evaluated by the college coaching staff present at the camp. Both overnight and extended day campers are welcome at the Nike camp, with both groups receiving the same instruction and game time. Both groups also will eat lunch and dinner together in the host school’s dining hall.
University Baseball Camps in Colorado
University camps are another option for high school athletes. Universities and colleges host camps for two reasons. First, to offer instruction to local students and nurture them into becoming college ball players. The other reason is to scout for potential players for their teams. Not all college camps are recruiting camps, but some are. It’s also a good way to get an idea of what college play will be like, what college coaches are looking for, and what the competition will be like when applying to colleges.
