Basketball summer camps in Houston for youth and students
While Texas is well known to be a huge hotbed for football at the high school, college, and professional level, Houston is more known for their prowess on the basketball court. The rise and popularity of basketball in Houston can be attributed to two men, Hakeem Olajuwon and Clyde Drexler. Both Olajuwon and Drexler paired up in the 1980s at the University of Houston to create an offense that was dubbed simply, “Phi Slamma Jamma”. These two would create more buzz for the city of Houston for basketball when both men paired up in 1995 for the Houston Rockets’ NBA Championship win. Such success has made basketball the sport in Houston.
