Three Basketball Camps in Minnesota for Boys and Girls
Basketball camps are a great way for young athletes to learn more about the sport, receive specialized instruction, and develop the correct attitude and techniques to become a college-level athlete. There are national, university, and local camps available in most states. Here are three options for Minnesota basketball players this year.
Point Guard College is one of the nation’s most popular basketball camps. With classes for boys and girls age fourteen to twenty-three, the Point Guard College curriculum is based on three core classes. Not all classes are available at every location every year, so check with the camp to see which camps are offered in each city this summer. The camps include Think the Game, Essentials, and Advanced Concepts for high school and college-age players, as well as a Prep School for younger players and the College Course for college athletes.
The Tubby Smith Basketball Camp at the University of Minnesota runs four different camps at the campus, and one camp at another location, for male basketball players. These camps include a day camp, overnight camp, team camp, and father and son camp. The camps focus on improving the skills of players at all levels. Campers will participate in drills and instruction in the mornings and games in the afternoon.
Run by record-breaking high school and college athlete, Janet Karvonen, the Janet Karvonen Basketball Camp offers seven different day camp opportunities for girls from grade one to twelve. These camps are based on player age and on skill focus. This includes a shooting camp, guard camp, post camp, offensive training, and a camp designed especially for very young players (grades one to four). You can also sign up for combo camps, which allow players to do two different camps this summer at a discounted rate.
