University, Local, and National Basketball Camps for Missouri Athletes
Basketball camps come in three major types: those hosted by universities, those run by local organizations or individuals, and national camps that host events across the country.
University camps can be a great opportunity for high school athletes who want to experience college life. Overnight camps at universities allow campers to experience dorm living as well as giving them the chance to see how college ball is different from high school ball. Many universities across the country host camps run by the school’s coaching staff and current players.
Local camps are another option for basketball players of all ages. Many local camps are run by former college players or coaches. These camps can be day camps or overnight camps and are often hosted at local schools. A local camp is often a less expensive alternative to a national or university camp that will still give you the chance to learn more about the sport and to get in some good practice time in the off season.
National camps are probably the most well-recognized camps. They feature local college coaches and players, as well as NBA coaches and players. Most national camps are overnight camps, with several different camp opportunities, including those for individuals and teams. NBC, Point Guard College, Hoop Mountain, Five Star, and Nike are all big-name national camps.
If you can’t find a camp in your area, consider attending an out-of-state camp. Many overnight camps offer transportation to and from camp to the nearest airport. This allows out-of-state campers the opportunity to attend camp without having to worry about finding their own transportation. And, as they are overnight camps, players won’t have to worry about housing or meals, either.
