Advantage Basketball Camps in Utah
There will be two types of Advantage Basketball Camps in Utah this summer, a shooting camp and a ball-handling camp. Named one of the top camps in the country by Sports Illustrated for Kids, Advantage camps use an intensive drill method to reinforce the skills players already have and add new ones. All camps are open to boys and girls aged 7 to 18.
At the shooting camp, the work begins with an emphasis on balance and footwork as the groundwork for the shot. Establishing proper positioning and center of gravity is reinforced by drills that will lock the proper technique into the player’s muscle memory. The shot itself is broken down into four elements: hand placement, alignment, release point and follow through. All players will work on all aspects of the shot, but there will be individual attention to help each player solve the issues that are causing him or her problems. In fact, the level of individual attention is one of the primary factors that sets Advantage camps apart from many others.
Learn Ball Handling at Advantage Basketball Camps in Utah
At the Advantage basketball camp in Utah that focuses on ball handling, the emphasis is on explosive speed and one-handed ball control. Players will learn the proper angle to attack a defender and come out of a move. As in the shooting camp, intensive drills help the player instill what he or she has learned into muscle memory, where it can be drawn on during a game without conscious thought.
There’s a lot of hard work involved, but students are continually motivated by pep talks, demonstrations and motivational speakers. They’ll get to have fun, too! in fact, many kids come back for more than one session of camp each summer.
