Duke Basketball Camp for Boys and Girls This Summer
Duke hosts basketball camp for high school boys and girls. The camps are both held at Duke University, but are run by different coaches.
Duke’s girls basketball camp is broken into four groups: instructional campers, instructional day campers, day campers, and elite campers. Instructional and elite camps are overnight camps, while day campers are expected to provide their own lodging.
Instructional campers, both overnight and day campers, will learn the fundamentals and will compete with each other in games. Older athletes that are serious about becoming better players should consider the elite camp. Elite camp focuses on the mental and physical aspects of the game, as well as preparing kids for college life, on and off the court.
Duke’s boys basketball camp, run by Mike Krzyzewski, will have three sessions this summer. Both overnight and day campers will participate in the same instruction, which includes drills, games, and lectures. The schedule is intense, with several instructional periods and game sessions every day. Day campers and overnighters will be fed lunch and dinner, while only overnighters will have breakfast. Instruction starts with warm-up at 830am and continues throughout the day, with breaks for meals, until 10pm.
Younger players are eligible for the day camp, Little Hoopers, which is a co-ed two day camp that focuses on fundamentals and playing games. This day camp is for players age seven to thirteen and will be held concurrently with the instructional camp.
Male and female campers should pay close attention to the list of required items and make sure to pack everything on the list. This includes linens like towels and bed sheets, as well as the things you’ll need for practice itself.
