Why You Should Attend University Football Camps
Football camps at top universities and colleges can be a great choice for aspiring college and pro athletes. A university camp will introduce you to the level of play expected of college athletes. The difference between high school and college play is larger than most people realize so getting an idea of what college play will be like ahead of time is a smart move.
University Football Camps Show You What College Play Is Like
A university football camp will let you play with and against other high school athletes who are at the top of their game. This will give you an idea of what the competition is going to be like when you apply to colleges, showing you where you need to work hardest and where you are already competitive. Playing with better teammates will also challenge you to be a better player.
It’s also a great way to focus your mind on the game. In many summer football camps in New York there are professional trainers, training to enhance the hidden skills in the player. Spending a week living the game will give you a chance to really think about football, and will hopefully inspire you anew to focus on becoming a better player. Without the distractions inherent in your daily life, you’ll be able to really think about what it is you need to learn and practice.
Working will college coaches and current players will show you what is expected of a college-level athlete, on and off the field. They’ll teach you things about the game, both mental and physical, that you may not have seemed as important at the high school level.
The position of long snapper, for example, is vastly different for college play than high school play. A long snapper can’t be touched at the high school level. At the college level, he’d be a prime target and has only moments to make the snap and prepare for the defensive rush.
