Different Types of Football Camps in Nebraska
Football camps come in all sizes and there are camps designed for players from age eight to eighteen, and some for even younger players. You’ll find camps that focus on general skills and fundamental football instruction, as well as camps that focus on recruiting opportunities, and those designed for position players.
General skills camps are the best choice for new players, but don’t think that they are the sole domain of the inexperienced. Many national camps are general skills camps in that they focus on improving your fundamental football skills. No one would say that a camp like Offense-Defense, for example, would be a good choice for new players only. Many experienced, talented players attend general camps like these every year for the instruction and the recruiting opportunities that they offer.
There are also camps that are designed solely for recruiting. These are called showcase camps and they can be a good way to be seen by multiple colleges and organizations. With the explosion in popularity of football camps in general, there have been a large number of these recruitment camps popping up, as well, but not all of them are reputable. Make sure to check out any camp that bills itself as a showcase to make sure that they are offering the kind of exposure you expect.
Position camps are meant to be intensive training explicitly for your particular position and are intended for serious athletes who want to play college-level football. If you are new to football, a position camp is probably not the best choice for you. You’ll find camps for quarterbacks, kickers, long snappers, offensive and defensive linemen, and receivers. These camps are usually shorter than the general skills camps, and are often day camps as opposed to overnight camps, but there are exceptions.
