The Two Reasons to Attend Sports Training Camp
There are sports training camps for most college-level sports. Universities offer camps for the sports they focus on, giving high school athletes a chance to improve their skills and get an idea of what college-level competition is going to be like.
So, why should you go to a sports training camp? The most obvious reason is because you want to become a better player. While there are no guarantees with sports camps, if you go to a good camp with the right mindset, work hard, and really take in the lessons being taught, you will learn things that will improve your game.
The improvement may not be instantly recognizable. It’s possible that you will learn that one technique that is going to instantly improve your game. It’s more likely, though, that you will learn things that you can incorporate into your practices and workouts that will, over time, help you develop your skills outside of the camp setting.
The other reason to attend a training camp is to be seen. Both universities and national camp organizations will offer camps for kids who are interested primarily in recruitment such as football camps in Illinois for high school. These include prospect and showcase camps, as well as general skills camps that will have recruiters present.
If this is your main reason for attending a camp, make sure that the camps you are looking at mention recruiting as a part of the experience. If they don’t, don’t count on it happening, even if you attend a camp at a school that you want to attend.
